Southern Albania is worth a visit. For its beaches with clear turquoise water, its food and its culture. And you might also come across a lot of… collapsed, unfinished houses.
During my holidays in Ksamil, close to Saranda in South Albania, not far from the border to Greece and Corfu, there were particularly many collapsed houses. Some say, they were deliberately demolished by the authorities because they were built without authorisation. Sounds plausible, since land rights are a bit of a sensitive issue in Albania.
